CBA FOUNDATION CONFERENCE

Theme: Empowering Widows in Nigeria: Breaking the Cycle of Poverty and Vulnerability

The CBA Foundation Conference aims to address the pressing issues faced by underprivileged widows in Nigeria, focusing on breaking the cycle of poverty and vulnerability. Widows – especially the underprivileged ones – in Nigeria often encounter significant cultural, social, and economic challenges, including inheritance disputes, violence, and limited access to education and economic opportunities. In a nutshell, the challenges widows encounter can be daunting. From the experiences of ostracization and isolation to neglect, and rejection, widowhood can be a lonely journey.

This conference seeks to provide a platform for conversations that would shed more light on the challenges the less privileged widows are encountering, explore opportunities and empowerment solutions to enable widows to rekindle hope, to heal and thrive. In addition, the conference will be bringing together stakeholders to share experiences, successes, strategies, and policies for supporting, promoting and advocating a better life and support system for widows.

The conference theme, “Empowering Widows in Nigeria: Breaking the Cycle of Poverty and Vulnerability,” underscores the importance of collective action in promoting the rights and wellbeing of widows through keynote and plenary sessions.
